Birmingham Farm

"Have you heard a story about a very special place ..."

There will come a day when you tell your grandchildren about one of the truly great places on the planet.

Let me tell you about it now...

Matt Birmingham's family owns a 600-acre plus assemblage of farm and woodlands north of Cavendish, Vermont.

You get to it from the Okemo Valley by a series of winding roads.

Once you are there, in the middle of 600 acres, you will not be disturbed.

The property is majestic, yet entirely pastoral, with sweeping views of the upper portion of Okemo Mountain, and full command of a wide range of the Green Mountains.

The fishing pond, within walking distance of the farmhouse, is stocked in the spring. The Birmingham land is embraced by stone fences. They grace acres of old fields and the grove of apples, which is still in active production.

The main farmhouse complex has six bedrooms and four Baths. The original portion of the building was built in the late 1700's.

Imagine your family having an annual feast at the dining table, in this newer section of the farm house.

One addition is a small shed, the roof of which has been raised to create a master bedroom, the other, the dining room and guest bedroom on the far side of the building.

And then there is the master bedroom itself.

The Carriage House Pool Hall and Family Room

After exploring the main building you will find the Carriage house, a separate post and beam building that has been turned into a pool hall. You will experience the history of a gracious and venerable family's trek through New England.

The Pool House is electrically heated, and remotely controlled from the house. During the winter, you can turn on the heat in the main house and after it warms, tred through the snow to the sound isolated pool hall.

The pool hall is attached to another barn that is tilted over to the North by about 8 degrees. It seems to be structurally sound; the entire thing is tilted, very weathered, very photographic, a wonder to behold.

Both the dining room and main living room have working fireplaces, as do the guest bedroom and master bedroom.

The Final Rustic Escape!

Finally, hidden on the property there is a ridge cabin which is a good, healthy 20-minute hike off road. It is a simple structure with just a fireplace. You can trek to it in the middle of the winter or in the summer to ride out storms, or just watch the Sun set. Trust me, this could be the greatest...

The essence of fine living can be found at the Birmingham Farm.

We are looking for a responsible, upper scale client who appreciates the real world of mountain country living. You will not only find a wonderful place, but the stories you will tell....

By the way, our client wants to vet every client and has asked us to rent The Birmingham Farm only to those who will respect the place.
